Terms of use.

These general terms of use govern access to and use of the lagrandecarte.fr website, published by an independent publisher established in France. They apply to every visitor to the site, whether an individual or a professional.

Using the site implies full and unreserved acceptance of these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

Access to lagrandecarte.fr is open, free of charge and requires no account. You can browse the map, the municipality pages, the rankings and the comparison tool without creating an account or paying.

An account is only needed to use the API (Article 6). It is free; only plans for commercial or intensive use are paid.

The service displays no advertising and is not subject to any commercial partnership that would influence the content shown.

Accessing the site requires an internet connection and a recent browser. Optimal performance is ensured on up-to-date versions of Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Edge.

You agree to use the site in compliance with applicable law and these terms. The following are in particular prohibited:

• Large-scale or automated scraping without prior agreement.
• Any attempt to compromise the security of the site (intrusion, denial of service, reverse engineering).
• Using the data displayed for purposes of surveillance, harassment, discrimination or fraud.
• Large-scale republication of the map rendering or editorial content without explicit credit to the site and its sources.

In the event of abnormal use, we reserve the right to technically block access to the service without notice.

The data displayed comes from French public sources (INSEE, DGFiP, ADEME, IGN, BRGM, the Ministry of the Interior, and others — see the full list on the about page).

This data is published under the Etalab Open Licence 2.0 (Licence Ouverte) or compatible licences. You may reuse it freely, provided you cite the original source (and not lagrandecarte.fr alone).

We are not responsible for any errors or delays in the original public data. For any critical use (property transaction, legal decision, etc.), it is your responsibility to check the information against the official source.

The site’s map rendering, analyses, editorial texts and visual identity guidelines are the property of the publisher and are released under the Creative Commons BY-NC 4.0 licence.

You may reuse excerpts or screenshots provided that you:

• Credit lagrandecarte.fr visibly.
• Do not use them commercially without written permission.
• Do not alter the renderings in a misleading way.

The la grande carte brand, its logo (constellation) and its visual identity are protected. Any use outside these terms requires prior permission.

The account

Access to the API requires an account, created with an email address and a password or via Google. One person or organisation, one account. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for any use made of your keys; notify us without delay if they are compromised. You may request the deletion of your account at any time (see the privacy policy).

API keys

A key identifies an integration, not a visitor: do not embed it in a public page. You can create and revoke your keys from your account; a revoked key stops working within a minute. Quotas (calls per day, calls per minute) apply per account, across all keys, and are shown on the API page as well as in every response.

Plans

The Free plan is reserved for non-commercial use: personal, non-profit, educational or research projects. Any commercial use — integration into a product, a paid service or a professional activity — requires a Standard or Pro plan. Circumventing the limits (multiple accounts, sharing or reselling keys, commercial use on the free plan) results in the revocation of the keys and, where appropriate, the suspension of the account, without refund.

Payment and cancellation

Paid plans are monthly subscriptions with no minimum term, billed in advance and renewed automatically. Prices are shown excluding tax; the applicable VAT is added according to your country. Payment is handled by Stripe; we store no payment data. The plan is activated as soon as payment is confirmed.

You can change plans or cancel at any time from your account (billing portal). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for, during which access remains open; no pro-rata refund is due for a period that has begun. If you change plans mid-month, the difference is prorated by Stripe.

If you are a consumer, you have a 14-day withdrawal period. By subscribing, you expressly request that the service begin immediately; if you withdraw within this period, you owe only the amount corresponding to the period used (Article L221-25 of the French Consumer Code). To exercise this right, simply email contact@lagrandecarte.fr.

Any change to the prices or quotas of a paid plan is announced to you by email at least 30 days before it applies; you may cancel before that date. If a payment fails, the plan’s access is maintained for a few days while Stripe retries, after which the account reverts to the free plan.

Data served by the API remains under the Open Licence 2.0 (Licence Ouverte) and must be credited; a paid plan buys capacity and the right to use our service commercially, not the public data itself, which remains free.

lagrandecarte.fr is provided “as is”, to the extent permitted by French law. No warranty is given as to the accuracy, completeness or currency of the information displayed.

We take reasonable measures to ensure the reliability of the service, but we cannot be held liable for:

• Any errors or delays in the upstream public data.
• Decisions made solely on the basis of the site’s content (purchase, rental, investment, planning, etc.).
• Temporary unavailability of the service due to maintenance or technical incidents.

For any binding decision, consult the official sources and, where necessary, a qualified professional (notary, land surveyor, architect, legal adviser).

We strive to keep the site continuously available, but cannot guarantee it. Occasional interruptions may occur for technical maintenance, data updates or reasons beyond our control.

Planned maintenance windows are, as far as possible, announced in advance on the home page.

The content, features and presentation of the site may change at any time without notice. New data sources may be added, and some removed if they are no longer updated at the source.

These terms may be amended to reflect such changes. The version in force is always the one available at lagrandecarte.fr/terms.

These terms are governed by French law. Any dispute relating to their interpretation or performance falls under the exclusive jurisdiction of the French courts, after an attempt at amicable resolution.
